Is the white page waiting for you… and you don’t know where to begin? Here are some ideas to get your ‘creative juices’ flowing. Check out these copywriting ideas…
10 Copywriting Ideas
- Begin with a person… Who are you writing your sales page or creating your video for? Write down everything you can about this person: their interests, education level, their job, the way they think…
- Go online and do some research as if you were that person. What are the top/best books/blogs they would read with their education/job/interests? Who are their top influencers? What forum would they likely be interested in joining to get answers to their hot questions? Every time that you find a book, blog, topic, or influencer that appears more than once you start to build a list of all the interests and angles most likely to succeed in your marketing message… This is a very powerful technique to get inside the mind of your prospect!
- Use the AIDA acronym to help you plan your message. If you are uncertain whether your original message will succeed you can try and follow the example of successful campaigns in the particular niche you are advertising in by searching for marketing swipe files. - Grab the Attention of your prospect with an emotively-powerful headline. You can use the headline generator or the title generator to help you come up with a headline. Don’t forget to pack a punch with these power words listed here and here.
- Build curiosity by making a promise (which you fulfill later), with a relevant statistic, with a story, or a thought-provoking question or problem. To find out what people are interested in, you can always do some digging on Pinterest or Quora.
- Build desire by showing what their life could be like if you could just solve the problem that you posed earlier… List the benefits like here or here.
- Encourage action with a ‘Call to Action’ phrase, link, button – anything that makes it easy to convert your prospect to the next stage of the sales process.
- Timing. Timing is important. You could add a deadline to the sales page which if they miss, they will lose the early-bird affordable deal. And if you are creating a video – don’t make it much longer than 2 minutes…

- Opting out of your offer – if you haven’t grabbed the attention of your prospect by this stage, then give them a no-lose deal where they can get part of the deal or a similar deal (such as an ebook) at a more affordable price or in exchange for their FREE personal details (e.g. their email). You will need to use a pop-up form to grab their attention before they bounce.
- Follow them and engage further. Build your list. The money is in the list. You can get them to return time and time again to new offers if you send them an email message or two… In the meantime, don’t forget you can use a Facebook pixel to show them your adverts wherever they go online.
Finally, when creating your sales message… don’t overdo it. You only have to tell them enough to get them to click on the call to action. Build curiosity first!
